The skin around your mouth is prone to sagging, particularly the corners, which often droop down as you age. THEA’s experts recommend practicing this exercise regularly to encourage movements of the whole face, improving your facial muscle strength. It’s as effective as frequent smiling at toning the skin around your mouth.
For this facial exercise, stand in front of a mirror and relax all the muscles on your face. Slowly stretch the corners of your mouth to form a smile. Keep your lips touching for 10 seconds. Just like that, keep stretching your mouth wider to expose your teeth and stay in that position for 10 seconds. Moving on, stretch your mouth even wider to keep the muscle resistance and expose your upper teeth. Hold on for 10 seconds.
While you’re at it, make sure the skin area around your eyes is relaxed. Finally, smile as wide as you can to feel the stretching at the corners of your mouth, exposing all of your upper teeth, but not your gums. You may feel a mild stretching pain at your cheek muscles but that’s not a cause for concern. Hold this position for 10 seconds, then repeat.
Next, place your index fingers at the corners of your mouth. Now thanks to the support of your fingers, you no longer have to stretch your mouth as tight as before. Hold on and relax for 10 seconds. Repeat this exercise 5-7 times every day.
Face lifting exercise
The thin skin around your eyes is prone to discoloration, drooping eyelids, and sagging bags. To tone it up, try this face lifting exercise:
Sit with your back straight and smile. Place your index fingers on the corners of your eyes - where the crow’s feet form. Then, keep “supporting” that area with your fingers while trying to close your eyes and relax. Repeat this 20 times. Make an effort to practice this face lifting exercise regularly, around 5-7 times every week to get the best results.
Jaw and neck lifting exercise
You can practice this exercise while sitting at your work desk. First, sit up and relax your face. Tilt your head back and look at the ceiling. Start to move your jaws like you’re chewing something. Do this for 20 seconds, then let your muscles rest. Practice this exercise several times every day to feel the muscles under your chin and your jaw muscles getting firmer and firmer.
Start by keeping your head up and eyes looking straight forward. Lift your lower lip up like you’re pouting. Then, try to raise it as close to your nose as possible. It’s not likely that you can touch your nose with your lower lip, so you just need to stay in that position and count to 10, then relax your facial muscles back to the normal state.
This exercise will help you relax the muscles around your jaws and chin. Do it 5 times every week to get the optimal toning effect.
Cheek puffing exercise
This exercise is similar to when you’re puffing your cheek and pouting your lips to pose for a selfie. Practice this exercise around 10 times per day to work the muscles on your cheeks and keep them firm.

You can do this exercise before going to bed or after waking up. Start by lying on your left side and lift your head up so that your chin align with your chest. Curl your tongue inside your mouth.
Hold this position and count from 1 to 5 and relax, lowering your head down. This exercise is best practiced while you’re lying down as it’s when your body are allowed to relax and your facial muscles are at rest, making it much easier for you.
